This pistol was issued to USA officers as a personal weapon. Functionally the same as the M1911, the shorter barrel is reported to have a greater muzzle blast. The front sight is taller than the Std. M1911 and the Officers name was engraved on the left Grip plate with a solid silver "Rock Island Arsenal seal on the right grip. Length was 7.90" compared with 8.50" of the Std. M1911. A total of 1004 were made and issued.
