The shooting range I use has a 5 round max loaded at once in a magazine. The .22 CCI ammo cases that I could slide open and drop 5 rounds into my hand is convenient and I thought it would be nice to do that with my other handgun ammo.
To print the lid, you will have to flip it in the slicer 180 degrees on the X axis to print it upside down. If you do that and print the case as is, no supports are required.
Made what I hope is an adjustable case that can be modified (if you don't mind using fusion 360) to hold any caliber. I am printing on a Voron V0.1 so I can't print more than a 25 round case (5x5), but it can be scaled out to the typical 5x10 by changing the number_of_row and Number of Columns parameters. The Round Width and height can be adjusted for your caliber of choice. I have some sample values for 9mm, .40 and .45 in the comments that I have used. I also realize all printers are different so I have a Tolerance in there as a parameter as well defaulting to -0.2mm. This is used to allow the lid to fit the case and move freely. if you need more or less “wiggle” room that is the parameter to change.
I am not a Fusion 360 expert or even do anything like that for a living so if anybody has tweaks or ideas to make it better feel free to leave me a comment or take the f3d file and improve it.
*Revision 11-24-22*: add lids without the pusher tabs. I thought the tabs made it easier to open but as I use these more, the number of times I accidentally opened a case was way too high. Hopefully the newer lids are more secure.
