I got a little fed up with some of the other models that I have found on printables and thingiverse, so I gave a crack at making my interpretation/clone of the ScoutX with slightly narrower (41mm) forks. All in all this slingshot should cost less than $1.00 depending on your filament of choice, and how many random bolts you have laying around from other projects. Buy a 10 pack of thinner elastic bands and some clay ammo off of Amazon, and you're ready to start plinking!
I recommend printing the main body, clamps, and knob at 100% infill with at least 5 perimeter walls, using aligned rectilinear infill. The grips can be printed with less infill at your discretion (I do 100% for some added weight).
This model only requires the following hardware:
- 2x M4x16mm hex bolts
- 2x M4 nuts
- 2x M4 washers
- 1x slingshot band (I bought this 10 pack off of Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08DYG313W?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details
Print the following:
- 1x “mainbody”
- 2x grips of your choice
- 2x clamp
- 2x knob
Once printed, all you need to do is:
- Superglue on the grips to either side of the slingshot body
- insert the m4 bolts into the knobs
- press fit the M4 nuts into the clamp
- Insert 1 M4 washer onto each knob/bolt assembly
- push knob/bolt assembly though the top of each fork
- loosely thread on clamp (nut side facing outwards)
- clamp on slingshot band of choice
- Don't shoot your eye out.
If you end up making one, let me know what you think, and share your color combination. Happy slinging!
