the top plug fits into the press in place of a die, it's just a slip fit, it has a hemispherical in dent on top and bottom to help center and retain the rounded end of your hammer spring strut. the shell holder adapter is installed in place of a shell holder, it has a hole through the center to allow the strut to pass through as you compress the spring, and a cutout in the side to allow you to insert your retaining pin to hold it all together.
