This is a comprehensive set of 3D printable 9x19mm Luger dummy rounds (snap caps) designed for safe dry fire practice, function testing, and malfunction drills.

These models are designed to protect your firing pin and allow you to cycle your firearm safely without using live ammunition. A key feature of all three designs is a *central through-hole running the length of the cartridge and the Reversible Primer System*. This allows you to easily push out and replace the printed "primer" once it wears out or use the back side, significantly extending the life of the print.

*The 3 Variants*

*1. The "Brass Saver" Insert*

  • *Best for:* Realism and weight.
  • *How it works:* This is a projectile and primer pocket insert designed to fit into your own spent/fired 9mm brass casings.
  • *Assembly:* Press the printed projectile into a cleaned, spent brass case. Insert the printed primer plug into the rear.

*2. Full Standard Cartridge*

  • *Best for:* General dry fire and cycling practice.
  • *How it works:* A fully 3D printed solid unit representing a standard 9x19mm round. Includes the standard extraction rim so the round will eject when the slide is racked.

*3. Rimless Cartridge (No Extractor Groove)*

  • *Best for:* Malfunction clearing and specific trigger control drills.
  • *How it works:* Identical to the Standard Cartridge but lacks the extraction rim. This prevents the extractor from grabbing the casing, ensuring the round stays in the chamber when the slide is racked (useful for Type 2/Type 3 malfunction training or repetitive trigger pulls without chasing rounds across the room).

Also, check the special container for those variants

*Print Settings*

  • *Material:* PLA+ or PETG is recommended for durability.

  • Pro Tip: Print the *Primer Insert in TPU (flexible filament) if possible, and the O-ring is* mandatory. This absorbs the firing pin impact better and lasts longer. If using PLA for the primer, expect to replace it frequently.

  • *Infill:* 100% (Solid). These need to withstand the force of the extractor and slide, or increase the wall loops to 4-5
  • *Layer Height:* 0.12mm or 0.16mm for smooth feeding.
  • *Supports:*

  • Full Cartridges: Print vertically (base down). No support is usually needed.

  • Insert: Print base down.

*Assembly & Usage*

  1. Print the cartridge body and the primer pin.
  2. Press the primer pin into the rear pocket.
  3. *To Replace Primer: Use a small Allen key or stiff wire to push the primer out from the front* (projectile end) through the internal channel, then insert a fresh one.

*⚠ Safety Warning*

  • *Make it visible: Always print these in bright colors* (Orange, Blue, or Yellow) to clearly distinguish them from live ammunition.
  • *No Live Ammo:* Never have live ammunition in the same room where you are practicing dry fire drills.
  • *Inspection:* Inspect the printed rounds regularly. If the plastic rims chip or break, discard the round to prevent debris from jamming your firearm.
  • Liability: These files are for educational and training purposes only. The creator is not responsible for any damage or injury resulting from the use of these prints.
